Dr. Harold Dean Trulear, a former prisoner who now serves as Associate Professor of Applied Theology at Howard University School of Divinity and Director of the Healing Communities Prison Ministry and Prisoner Reentry Project of the Philadelphia Leadership Foundation, spoke powerfully to students at Wheaton College in February 2015 about the importance of showing Christ's love to prisoners.

In June 2018, when the leadership of The Cell Church attended the Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association conference on the Wheaton campus, I (Mark Walker) was privileged to attend an excellent workshop taught by Dr. Trulear on the subject of creating church culture for correctional ministry.
