On June 5, 2019 My Father's House, a Metro Denver transitional housing ministry, celebrated their first anniversary. I was honored to be able to attend the celebration and to hear the stories of the growth of the ministry over the past year, and of the men who have begun putting their lives back together because of the opportunity My Father's House has given them.
The ministry's founder and CEO, Jim Blum (above center), is a former prisoner who has a heart to offer men more than a place to live when they are released. In My Father's House Jim has created a true home which offers fellowship, encouragement, and support for former prisoners who are getting back on their feet. Private rooms for each person and regular meals with Jim, his family, and other ministry supporters are among the many blessings available to residents. I have had the privilege of attending several of these dinners and getting to know the men who are living in the home. The loving, accepting, supportive, and spiritual atmosphere is palpable, and many of the men who have lived there testify to the positive impact the experience has had on them.
One of the former residents - the first to move out into his own apartment - was
interviewed by Jim during the anniversary celebration. His story was incredibly encouraging to me, and I left excited for the future of this ministry. Transitional housing for released prisoners is a desperate need in Colorado. I am deeply grateful to God for the impact Jim is making in the lives of men who are struggling to find a home in this world after prison. If you are interested in learning more about My Father's House you can visit their website HERE. There is also a link to the site on our RESOURCES page.
Jim is an excellent example of the passion and commitment of a former prisoner who had ministry training and grew spiritually during his incarceration, and who came out of prison with a desire to serve others who have been through similar experiences. Now he is making a huge impact for the kingdom of God and sharing the love of Christ with valuable people who have been written off by our society. Please pray for My Father's House and support them in any way you can, as the Lord leads!
